Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals, a company that makes plant-based supplements, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with manufacturer and marketer of supplements WellQuest International. APPI said the new company, which is likely to go public, will sell APPI's cholesterol product, Lo-Chol.
APPI will own 70 per cent of new company Healthy Cholesterol (HCI) and will receive a royalty per bottle sold from HCI. WellQuest will provide the marketing expertise and marketing expenditures. A national TV marketing campaign is planned for the cholesterol-lowering product.
The company cited a recent National Institute of Health (NIH) study which reports that up to 101million of the US population has borderline high cholesterol.
The patented supplement has been found to reduce cholesterol up to 58 per cent and lower triglycerides up to 45 per cent in human trials. It also increased good cholesterol (HDL) up to 60 per cent and improved HDL/LDL ratio by up to 46 per cent.
David Lieberman, president of APPI, said: "We already know through clinical trials that Lo-Chol has a positive impact on lowering one's cholesterol. We just needed the financial wherewithal to create and execute a national marketing campaign using TV commercials and infomercials which WellQuest has done often to significantly increase sales of its products."
The company is expecting the incorporation of HCI, along with the financial and marketing resources of WellQuest, to bring "dramatic sales growth" for the product.
Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals has a patent-pending process that uses whole plants to manufacture natural dietary supplements. Other APPI products include Sinusol (homeopathic allergy and nasal spray), Garlic and ACA (immune system booster).
