US-based health company Shaklee has introduced Glucose Regulation Complex, a dietary supplement claimed to support and improve glucose metabolism.

Shaklee maintains that Glucose Regulation Complex helps transport glucose into cells, making the body's system more efficient at using blood sugar and retaining normal blood sugar levels. It also helps sustain energy and prevent the steep blood sugar declines that can lead to food cravings and the desire to eat more food than the body needs.

The company suggests that inefficient glucose use can be caused by stress, unhealthy eating, inactivity and weight gain, which in turn leads to higher circulating blood glucose, food cravings, lower energy and even more weight gain. It cites US Department of Health and Human Services figures, which show an estimated 17 million Americans have serious problems with blood sugar regulation.

Shaklee claims that taking Glucose Regulation Complex along with proper nutrition and regular exercise increases the efficiency of blood glucose regulation and aids normal responsiveness of cells to insulin, and this brings increased energy levels and decreased food cravings, ultimately helping even more to retain normal blood sugar levels.

"Glucose Regulation Complex, with its unique blend of ingredients, provides a natural approach to retaining normal blood sugar levels," said Ray Cooper, vice president of Research and Health Sciences at Shaklee. "Glucose Regulation Complex also provides a great side benefit of an energy boost while it reduces food cravings."

Glucose Regulation Complex contains minerals, botanicals and antioxidants, including Banana leaf extract, chromium, magnesium, vanadium, zinc, taurine and alpha lipoic acid, a powerful antioxidant that facilitates glucose transport and enhances the antioxidant effects of vitamins C and E.
