LifeScript, a producer of personalised nutritional supplements, is to introduce a new soy-based meal replacement drink with added calcium designed to help consumers lose weight.
The new drink is called SlimScript, and will be launched by LifeScript on 1 June. In keeping with the company's commitment to consumer convenience, SlimScript will be delivered directly to customers' homes in handy packages of 20 daily meal packets.
"Consumers are seeking healthy, low-fat meal options and soy products are a proven, protein-rich, heart-healthy meal substitute and weight loss solution," said Dr Edward Geehr, a member of the LifeScript Scientific and Medical Advisory Board.
"Research has shown that soy is a low-calorie, low-carbohydrate food that possesses the ability to decrease fat storage, increase fat cell metabolism and preserve lean muscle mass," Dr Geehr added. "That's why soy has become an important ingredient in many weight loss programmes."
SlimScript is a soy-based nutritional shake in powder form. When mixed with water, skimmed milk or juice, it makes a nutritious, low-calorie meal substitute which LifeSmart claims contains more than twice the protein and less than half the carbohydrates of other top-selling soy meal-replacement shakes. It also contains 23 essential vitamins and minerals.
"Many products have to load up on carbohydrates and sugars to compensate for the heavy soy taste," said Dr Geehr. "Our enriched product combines refined soy with whey proteins and natural flavourings to produce a low-carbohydrate drink that tastes like a milkshake - without the milk fats and cholesterol. It has consistently outranked other meal replacement shakes in our taste tests."
SlimScript was designed to replace only one meal per day, five days per week. "This offers a tremendous advantage to those who want to control their weight without feeling like they're on a restrictive diet," said Dr Geehr. "Compliance is important in any weight management programme; when you're replacing only five meals a week, it's convenient and easy to sustain."
As well as its weight loss properties, soy protein has been shown to help preserve bone calcium content, and this is why LifeSmart has added calcium to the soy protein in SlimScript.
LifeScript produces and delivers customised vitamin formulations in personalised, daily-dose packets, as well as meal-replacement nutritional shakes for weight control and good health.
