Millennium Biotechnologies has launched its Resurgex nutritional supplement via the Medicaid system in the US state of Nevada, the first time the product has been made available on prescription in that state. Resurgex is designed to help maintain lean muscle, decrease oxidative stress, support immune function and increase energy, and its prescription is described as "a strategic approach for the care of individuals undergoing medical treatment for chronic illness.
According to Christopher R. DeMarzo, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Millennium Biotech: "Resurgex was designed to meet the multiple nutritional needs of immuno-compromised people living with diseases such as Cancer and AIDS. Resurgex is being received positively during our Nevada product launch as it continues to do from our initial launch in Connecticut and New Jersey."
DeMarzo said that the growing body of evidence to support the efficacy of nutritional supplements in treating serious diseases had led to an increasing number of patients with HIV using these supplements as complementary and adjunct therapies on a daily basis. He added that supplements could help patients who have become resistant to other HIV treatments.
"Delivery and taste are critical to a patient's long term compliance and adherence to a supplement," said DeMarzo. "Resurgex has a innovative delivery system allowing a patient to add water, milk or juice, shake, drink and dispose of the bottle. Resurgex has received many accolades regarding both its efficacy and taste."
