Cognis extends natural mixed carotenoid range
two more products to its Betatene® natural mixed carotenoid range.
Cognis Nutrition & Health announced recently that it has added two more products to its Betatene® natural mixed carotenoid range. New Betatene® 10%N is a higher potency powder containing micro-encapsulated natural mixed carotenoids. According to the company it offers the dual advantage of greater formulation flexibility and reduced production costs. Betatene®1% CWD N is the new IP-Certified powder. These two products join the existing Betatene® 7.5% N and 2.5% WDP powders and three oil grades, Betatene® 30%, Betatene® 20% and Betatene® 4%. Cognis claims in a statement that the mix of carotenoids found in Betatene® - beta carotene, alpha carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin and cryptoxanthin - is similar to that present in many fruits and vegetables. Betatene" can be used for carotenoid fortification and for contributing vitamin A to snacks, energy bars, sports drinks and other foods. For dietary supplement manufacturers, Betatene® can be used in single supplements, for products designed for particular market segments such as skin supplements, or as part of multivitamin and antioxidant formulations. All Betatene® products contain carotenoids derived from a natural source - the marine alga, Dunaliella salina, grown on a cultivated algae farm on the Indian and Southern Oceans of Australia. Betatene" is produced without use of any petrochemical solvents and other synthetic chemicals, so that manufacturers can label and promote their products as containing natural-source ingredients.
