According to the group, the new 500mg variety of its BRM4 branded dietary fibre can enhance the potential benefits of its existing 250mg serving, which it claims have clinically proven benefits as am immune system modulator.
The company adds that the 500mg BRM4, launched last December, remains available exclusively through health practitioners as a means of testing demand for the larger dose ahead of any further distribution extension.
Noriano Shirai, DHD vice president, told NutraIngredients-USA.com that the company had previously supplied a 500mg RBAC product under the brand name NGN3. However, he said the product had been taken off the market because of health claims carried on the product regarding disease prevention.
Convenience
Avoiding use of terms such as ‘double-strength’ with the latest launch, Shirai said the product, which has does not have GRAS (generally recognized as safe) notice, was being marketed as a more convenient long-term method to protect the immune system.
DHD says that in its own clinical trials, BRM4 has not been found to have any side affects, backed by twelve years of use. In its 250mg dosage, the manufacturer of the RBAC product says it has been linked to triple Natural Killer (NK) cell activity. BRM4 also has been able to boost T and B lymphocytes, according to DHD. NK cells have been linked to guarding the immune system.
In boosting the dosage of BRM4, Shirai says the company hopes to target the product towards long-term convenience, requiring a smaller number of capsules to be taken by a consumer per day.
Further studies of 1000mg, 2000mg and 3000mg dosages of RBAC products by the group, while not directly measured at levels that the company sells its compounds, did record enhanced benefits to the immune system as consumption increased, according to the company.
In attempting to target convenience demand by providing higher doses of BRM4, Shirai said that company did face some challenges in the increased cost to the consumer of the 500mg product.
“Our main challenge is the cost per bottle,” he stated. “Both packs contain 60 capsules, although the price is higher requiring us to try and reduce cost.”
